What Not To Say To Someone Who’s Sick

4:57 AM

It’s been 7 weeks since I got a fracture on my foot!^^ I still have to wait for another 5 weeks for my follow-up check-up with my orthopedic doctor to see how my bone is healing, but things have been pretty nice and sweet. I feel so blessed that I’ve been showered with love and care. My family and friends are so awesome! They love pushing my wheelchair for me, and helping me move around. I feel sooo very loved!

But the past week, I was starting to feel a little bored and a little annoyed with the cast I’m wearing. I really hope to feel better soon. :D Many times I wonder what’s God purpose~why I had been injured and why I had to stop and take a break for a while.

A week after I got injured, my friend Raymond came to visit me and we were talking about these “little afflictions” we have. He’s been sick with allergies and I, with this fracture of mine. We both agreed that maybe God is teaching us how to empathize with those who are sick, with people who are going through the same things we go through. And truthfully, the experience is hard.

I’m smiling and happy all the time but I know that is the work of the Lord in my heart. ^^‘Cause in reality, I’m a bit having a hard time. It’s hard to have a fracture in the foot and not be able to walk normally. To not be able to do simple things you need to do-like going to the washroom or getting a plate from the kitchen—without assistance. It’s hard when you want to watch your sisters perform and the venue is not wheelchair-friendly so you have to hop on one foot and you fall on the floor. And it helps to hear words of encouragement and love from people around you, even from friends who come over to visit.

And so this post is inspired by the little pain I have in my heart. LOL Kidding! Today, I’m gonna share with you things we should never tell a sick friend or family member. ^^ I hope this will remind us to care, be sensitive, empathize and put ourselves in other people’s situation if ever we encounter a sick person in the future.

10 Things Mom Will Love

3:12 PM

It`s Mother`s day in few days. Do you have anything coming yet?

My Mom really loves treats. She likes chocolates and lipsticks…and clothes…and flowering plants. I`m thinking of finding a few of those brands she likes… She`s very much craving for dark chocolates these days so I might get her some.

But more than the treats she would like for mother`s day, I`m wondering if there`s anything else.

Aside from this cute class pumpkin thing she would probably love.

My sisters and I have been reading Tommy Tenney`s Finding Favor with the King several times during the year and I guess it had sank to me that to please the King, you must put his desires first—esp. when you want to give him a gift.

I guess that applies to our Moms, too, on Mother`s day. Instead of getting something we would like to give them, why not give them something they would actually want to receive.

And so today, we`ve still got 3 days to spy about the 10 things she would love on Mother`s day (it`s good to have choices `cause she might put a car on number one and you can only afford the massage on number 2).hehe

Here are some ways to find out Mom`s top 10.

1. Ask her to come with you to the mall when you`re buying something for yourself, and look to which directions she would go. Notice what stuff she would pick up and ask if she likes them. Moms sometimes don`t say it but she might actually love something she picks or tries on.

2. Stay at home for one day and engage her into a conversation about fashion, recipes, and interior design. She will definitely mention something she really likes.

3. Ask your dad, your brothers and sisters and her friends about where she probably would want to go or what she would want to do over the weekend.

4. Try to remember her favorites. Favorite book. Favorite spa. Favorite color.

5. Make her answer the 5 Languages of Love Test `cause her love language might not be gifts or treats, but actually service, or words or touch. If that`s the case, offer to give her a massage for a week or take over her household chores. Write her a card, make her a video or hug her tightly on mother`s day for an hour. Winking smile

Maybe that`s what I`m gonna do tonight first. I want to find out her love language and it`s gonna be great and easy to know how to make her happy, not just on Mother`s day but all the days after that.

Happy Mother’s day to all the moms out there!

Ramblin\So I`m gonna go to sleep now.

Anyway, please do drop by often `cause

I joined WordCount’s Blogathon 2011,

and I`ll be posting every single day for the rest of May. So there`d be much to read in here. I hope I won`t struggle with lack of ideas to write about. It`s actually making me a little bit nervous now.

On one of Bonnie`s {Faith Barista} emails, she mentioned about being a Faith Blogger, that we should write out of faith even though sometimes we feel a little unsure. I, personally, sometimes fear rejection. Don`t you find me silly sometimes?haha Sometimes, I actually imagine that people are finding me weird and funny and…silly. So I hesitate, even though it`s not the right response to my wild imagination.

But with the Lord`s help, I will write with faith! And we will make it till the end of the month! So please join me guys and leave a comment whenever you are led to do so. ;) I would also love to hear from you.

Good night and see you in the morning!

PS. Please do pray for me I try to finish this week all the responsibilities I have in church so I can go ahead and prepare my school papers. It`s gonna be a busy and full month. I would really appreciate it! Love you all!

25 Things To Do This Summer

9:13 AM

It`s summer vacation here in the Philippines! I`m sure, a lot of kids are bored, staring at their computers at home, wishing there`s something to do with the plenty of time they`ve got. After all, they`ve been badly wishing for summer the whole-year round so we must help them find something to do!

Honestly, I`ve been pretty bored myself since Monday, after a week-long unexpected vacation. The moment my pastor friends stepped into the plane back to Narita…ah, I feel like summer has become a reason to cry. Ever felt like crying yourself to sleep in a sunny, lonely summer afternoon? Aaargh! I don`t even want to think about it! ;)

{I think the loneliness really comes right after a fantastic week at the beach. Hang-over. }

Since most of us can`t fly to Paris for summer break or afford a two-month vacation by the beach, let`s make a list of things to do for summer so we could all avoid these lonely summer afternoons everyone of us dreads!

Please don`t hesitate to leave a comment if you`re thinking of  more things to do! Let`s share ideas on how to spend our days happily under the sun! ;)

P.S. I intentionally didn`t write down Facebook, Twitter, or Wii. Let`s go outdoors, bask in the sun and get our hands dirty! ;)

tumblr_lj08litk4m1qgsvvao1_5001. Stargazing. Summer is the best time to go stargazing because the sky is clear and it isn`t too cold at night. (Oops! This isn`t an afternoon thing—but lovely still! haha)

2. Play Waterbomb With Your Friends. You can do this on your backyard, on the park or on the street {Be careful with cars, please!}!   This is what summer is all about!

14. Print photos and make an album, scrapbook or photo journal.

15. Photoshoot with friends.

16. Visit a library or museum.

17. Go on an Ukay-ukay{second-hand store} challenge with friends.

18. Visit an Asian Grocery store. I love Korean!

19. Redecorate your room.

20. Make sunny day rules.

23. Visit a pineapple or strawberry farm. Or plant vegetables!

24. Learn an instrument. Sing or play music for lonely people.

Living Creatively: Writers Block

4:09 AM

Do you sometimes struggle to write?

I bet everyone of us does.

I had all these thoughts in mind the past couple weeks and I really wanted to write them down and share them with you. But for an unexplainable (but familiar) reason, I cannot write them down or form them into good-sounding words. I`ve got two or three stories in mind, but I just could make them into an engaging post worth reading.

tumblr_lg2s8zXMIN1qcv9d7o1_500

I guess it`s true when experts say if you yourself don`t get excited or are not enjoying what you have written down, your readers wouldn`t enjoy them either. So I guess it all starts with us, with our hearts and our perception of things.

I believe one reason why writers struggle to write is hesitation. The moment we begin to hesitate, that`s when things start to really go wrong. It`s like believing in failure before you`ve even started anything. It like inviting doom when it`s not even asking to come in.

{Did I use an exagerated word for doom? haha}

Madamcupcaketumblr

It`s really a tragedy to start thinking we`ll fail even before we started anything.

When I was leading the Multimedia Ministry in our previous church, the team and I did a balloon-blowing game for team building. I asked the them to blow an average sized balloon without air-pumping equipment. Some struggled while a few filled it up with air really quick.

I didn`t tell them that the balloon game was supposed to measure confidence. Those who had confidence enough to blow the balloons finished really quick, while others had to pushed a little bit to believe they can blow the balloons themselves.

I guess it`s also the same with writing—or any other craft. When we start with confidence, believe in ourselves because we are God`s creation and trust Him because He never leaves us and we are not alone, we will not be afraid of doing great things. When we believe that the intelligent Lord who fashioned all of these majestic creation is with us in everything we do, how can we not become people of excellence? When we place our confidence on the Lord who loves us and who gives us strength and wisdom, how can we not do any good thing?

"For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD,
my confidence since my youth."
Psalms 71:5 (NIV)

Anyway, I found a cute poster with these “oh so true” writing rules! Enjoy!
